Honestly we were skeptical our first two days in Vieques. The town was a ghost town and we had no idea of the level of poverty on the island (the poverty is not an issue as much as the petty crime rates that we were unaware of). We embraced the island and quickly fell in love with the beaches. Also after talking to some locals we felt much better. The beaches are out of a movie! We loved La Chiva ten and eleven and the kids loved Caracas for the waves! Starfish beach near the pier is a must go to! Weirdly the restaurants were open Tuesday-Friday more than the weekends. There are some dogs that roam near the house and we caught n that having water outside from the hose is what kept them around so we did not provide it and they seemed to leave for most days. And the horses! They are really awesome but you really must close the gates and be careful while closing the gate as a horse ran past me to get in the yard! Thankfully Ron was able to give me a tip of how to get them out (clapping and walking behind them)! The house met our expectations and the beach at the home is beautiful. Be aware that the wifi is on \'island time\' and we did not get cell reception in the house. A landline would also be a real benefit for emergencies.

Vieques is very beautiful and very real. I adored the simple life on the island. I felt closer to my Creator without all tthe trappings of our everyday life in Kansas. The house was perfect and the beaches were beyond words. I love the human race, but sometimes I like to be in my own little world with the ones I love the most. Jon and Ron were wonderful in helping us plan and get settled. I don\'t think any amount of money could by a better vacation . This was an extremely reasonable trip for the enjoyment and relaxation factor. I would go back tomorrow if I could.

WE JUST RETURNED FROM OUR STAY ON THIS UNFORGETABLE ISLAND. IM IN LOVE! WE HAD A GREAT TIME EXPLORING, BUT I KEPT WANTING TO GO BACK TO THE HOUSE AND ENJOY THE PRIVACY OF OUR OWN LITTLE BEACH. I SPENT HOURS GATHERING SHELLS AND SEA GLASS AND UNIQUE ROCKS. THE TRIP WAS SO RELAXING. THE HOUSE HAD EVERYTHING WE NEEDED. I HOPE TO RETURN SOON AND I WOULD\'NT WANT TO STAY ANYWHERE ELSE! Overall this rental is awesome. Jon was great to work with. Freddy, the manager on the island went out of his way to make sure we were all settled. We are a family of five, with three boys 9,11,14. We typically vacation in villas or rental homes for the number of rooms, non-resort atmosphere and ease of making food. The beach house satisfied all of this. Sleeping arrangements were comfortable. Kitchen was well stocked and the grill allowed us to cook out. The house is away from town. While only a few minutes into Isabel and 20 min from Esperanza it felt isolated and peaceful. Getting around is easy, but we feel you need a rental car. It\'s 20 minutes to playa Caracas or green beach. It\'s probably only 60 min around the entire island. The beach in front was windy for us in December. It was a great walking and discovery beach. The other beaches were great. We spent the bulk of our time at Playa Caracas. With the right wind and waves there is a \"wedge\" break that comes off the west rock wall for body boarding. Green beach was great for snorkeling. Navio beach was good for waves, but during our trip, they were a little sloppy. Do the bio bay and use JAK water sports. If you are looking for a resort feel, that\'s not what this is. It\'s a comfortable immersion into Vieques island culture. It is exactly what I would build and rent out. Enjoy your stay.

We had a very enjoyable experience on our Vieques vacation much due to the very comfortable and well equipped accommodations. The property was clean and well maintained with an exceptionally helpful management team. It was located on a beautiful walking beach and close to many of the most popular beaches and restaurants and the quaint town of Isabel where you can find almost anything you\'d need on vacation. We loved the location and the comfy beds, along with a fully stocked kitchen and some bonus items including toiletries, kitchen condiments, beach chairs and many other helpful staples that we didn\'t need to supply. A very relaxing environment on a drop dead gorgeous setting!

My wife & I spent our honeymoon ten years ago in the white beach house and have returned four times the past 9 years. Being from Kansas we plan a week vacation in December or January to a warm destination to get away for at least a week from the brutal Midwest weather. This year the wind chills were below zero at home while we were relaxing on one of the beautiful secluded beaches of Viequez. The Schmidt\'s beach house is great location and you can drive anywhere on the island in less than 30 minutes. The food & drink at the restaurants is great and not expensive. Highly recommend!!!
